The Iconic Bond Girls Then and Now

Following the success of the iconic Bond villainess Fiona Volpe, the writers aimed to recreate her with Helga Brandt, played by German actress Karin Dor in the 1967 Bond classic You Only Live Twice. As a SPECTRE henchwoman, Brandt attempts to take down the beloved spy, leaving an unforgettable mark on Bond history.

Dor was also well-known for her roles in German films, particularly the Edgar Wallace Krimis (crime films), where she met her first husband, director Harald Reinl, with whom she had her only child. In her later years, she shifted from film to stage productions. Dor passed away at 79 in Munich in 2017.
