Always Had Her Parent’s Support
From a young age, Dolly Parton’s parents, Avie Lee and Robert Lee, recognized and nurtured her musical talent despite their modest means. Avie Lee, who sang Appalachian folk songs around the house, saw Dolly’s passion for music and encouraged her to pursue it.
Robert Lee, though not musically inclined himself, worked tirelessly to support Dolly’s dreams, even trading a sack of grain for her first real guitar. They both understood her unique voice and songwriting, making sacrifices to give her opportunities, like singing on local radio stations.
